How to get the most from these programs

  1. Get pre-approval first. Many business incentives, including Enbridge Gas Custom Retrofit, require approval before you buy equipment. Buying first can cost you the incentive.
  2. Assess before you upgrade. Home Renovation Savings bundle rebates need a home energy assessment before the work, and the assessment itself is rebated.
  3. Stack where the rules allow. Electricity, gas, municipal and federal programs can often be combined, but each sets its own limits.
  4. Watch the deadlines. Funding windows close when budgets run out, as commercial energy-manager funding already has.

What changed

  • October 27, 2026: Toronto HELP rates confirmed at 3.83% (5 years) to 5.12% (20 years) until December 31, 2026; heat pump-only and solar-only HELP projects no longer need EnerGuide assessments. Added Existing Building Commissioning. Added Durham Greener Homes, Durham Greener Buildings and Retrofit Waterloo Region.
  • October 2026: The federal government announced a new heat pump rebate, launching in early 2027. Save on Energy lists commercial and institutional energy-manager funding as fully subscribed; industrial funding remains available until March 31, 2027.

Quick answers

What energy rebates are available in Ontario in 2026?

Homeowners can use the Home Renovation Savings Program (Save on Energy and Enbridge Gas), the City of Toronto HELP loan in Toronto, and from early 2027 the new federal heat pump rebate. Businesses can use Save on Energy's Retrofit, Small Business and energy management programs, Enbridge Gas Custom Retrofit, Toronto Energy Retrofit Loans, the federal Clean Technology Investment Tax Credit and CMHC MLI Select.

Can I combine Ontario rebates with federal programs?

Often, yes. Each program sets its own stacking rules, so check before you buy any equipment. Some programs also require pre-approval or an assessment before work starts.

How often does this list change?

Programs open, close and change funding several times a year. We check every program on this page monthly and log the changes at the bottom.
