RetrofitWR low-interest loans
2.5% loans for eligible home energy upgrades, repaid on your GrandBridge Energy electricity bill. Loans currently cover GrandBridge customers in Cambridge and North Dumfries; the Region aims to expand to other utility areas.
Heat pump incentives
$2,500 for a qualified ducted heat pump, or $1,000 per ductless mini-split up to $2,500, with extra support for income-eligible households.
Assessments before and after
The RetrofitWR process includes pre- and post-retrofit home assessments, and starts with a free, independent Energy Coach.
Gas in Kitchener
Kitchener homes and buildings buy gas from Kitchener Utilities, not Enbridge Gas, so gas-side incentives can differ. We confirm which ones apply to your address.

What is RetrofitWR?
Retrofit Waterloo Region is the Region of Waterloo's home energy retrofit program for 2026 to 2030: a free Energy Coach, 2.5% loans repaid on your electricity bill, heat pump incentives and pre- and post-retrofit assessments.
Who can get a RetrofitWR loan?
Loans are available to eligible homeowners who are GrandBridge Energy customers in Cambridge and North Dumfries. The Region aims to expand financing to other utility service areas; coaching is open across the Region.
Do Waterloo Region buildings have to report energy use?
Buildings of 50,000 sq ft and up report energy and water use to Ontario's EWRB program every year by July 1.
