Ontario Home Renovation Savings Program: Rebates for Heat Pumps, Insulation and More
Ontario’s Home Renovation Savings Program launched on January 28, 2025. It offers rebates for home renovations that cut energy bills, including new windows and doors, insulation, smart thermostats, heat pumps and rooftop solar panels.
Quick facts
The program gives homeowners “one-window” access to home energy efficiency upgrades through Save on Energy and Enbridge Gas conservation programs.
The Independent Electricity System Operator forecasts that Ontario’s electricity demand will grow by 75% by 2050, the equivalent of adding four and a half cities the size of Toronto.
That growth comes from population increases, new manufacturing, artificial intelligence data centres, the electrification of industry and electric vehicle charging.
The province’s energy efficiency programs for electricity customers now total more than $1 billion over four years. Read Ontario’s announcement on the expansion of energy efficiency programs.
2026 update: stacking with the new federal heat pump rebate
The program remains active in 2026. In October 2026 the federal government announced a new National Heat Pump Rebate of up to $10,000 for below-median-income households and $2,000 for other eligible households, which can be combined with existing provincial programs. Rules and amounts change, so confirm current terms with Save on Energy and Enbridge Gas before you buy equipment.
